About Us

Origin Story

After 15 years teaching High School Textiles & Design my wife brainstormed some goals for ‘what’s next’ in her career, here’s one of them…

‘Produce and make a textiles product - part of the website has a 'shop', product needs to have a unique handmade quality about it. Products need to be one kind of item and done extremely well, made to order product so it is sustainable and responsible with no waste.’

…and just like that Textiles7 was born.

‘Textiles7’ is the name of Justine’s sewing classroom at the High School where she taught so many of her keen students. Our goals for Textiles7 reflect Justine’s passion and lifelong commitment to teaching others the joy and creativity of all thing’s textiles.

We are committed to:

  • Helping the Sewer perfect their craft
  • Designing a single product line – ‘extremely well’
  • Making the hard stuff easy
  • Creating sustainable, responsible products with minimal waste

I love innovative process improvement (and Mountain Biking), when Justine showed me her idea for an acrylic guide that simplifies the onerous process of creating trims, I was sold! Sold enough to take a break from corporate life to lend a hand. Best. Decision. Ever.

About Us

More about Justine

Justine loves all things textiles, her interests extend beyond sewing to furniture upholstery, quilting, embroidery, textile art, soft furnishings, curtain making, pattern drafting for her own apparel and Interior design.

(She also pretends to love Mountain Biking)

Justine began her career studying Fashion Design, earning her Diploma; she then achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree (History of all things) and finally her Dip.Ed. She began her education career as an art teacher before one day deciding to post a notice asking students if they would like to stay back after school to learn fashion - hoping a handful might turn up.

40 students showed up and the Textiles department was born. Justine went on to achieve outstanding results for her students across 15 years of teaching textiles, including 5 years marking HSC exams.
